Why EPS/Epoxy

Epoxy Surfboards offer higher strength to weight ratios than polyester boards. They have a dynamic rocker and can provide the highest flex of any product on the market! Epoxy and EPS is stronger, lighter, more buoyant, safe for shapers and safe for the environment – Green boards are good boards!
- EPS foam is light – a standard EPS blank is 33% lighter than a polyurethane blank. That can cut 3 pounds from a longboard just in foam weight!
- If boards require extra weight in areas for performance – EPS is ‘glassed-up’ giving the finished product and customer the desired weight while making the board bomb proof.
- Lightweight blanks and resins allow for substantial gains in sheer strength by adding stringers or more fiberglass in ‘wear’ areas.
- EPS resists pressure dings better than poly style blanks.
- We use small (“c”) bead foam that allows for more detailed shaping and better / more consistent densities.
- Epoxy laminations are more resistant to cracks and “strawberries” over the old style polyester boards.
- Epoxy is better for the environment – Epoxy emits 1/50th the volatile compounds of polyester in the air and can easily be cleaned up with vinegar as opposed to toxic acetone.
- No studies have linked Epoxy or EPS as carcinogens.
- We use Epoxies with added UV resistance for longer board life.
EPS production allows for significant customization by the builder – virtually any style, rocker or size blank can be created using EPS. Proprietary rocker templates can be created from proven designs that result in minimal foiling and increase product consistency.
